Shogun Cheatsheet

CineArk’s Shogun Clamshell is a portable 4-channel recorder for when a full QTAKE rig is impractical, or as a backup if QTAKE goes down.

It combines an Atomos Shogun 7, a DMON-Quad (controlled with a rotary switch), external I/O, and two power options in a Peli case.

Power

Hot-swappable between:

  • V-Lock battery

  • 12V 4-pin XLR (block battery or 3A+ supply)

As long as one power source is connected, the other can be disconnected without losing power.

Do not use a low-amp 13A 4-pin XLR supply — it is not enough to power the Shogun.

  1. Connect power — the DMON-Quad LCD should light up.

  2. Single-press (do not hold) the power button on the right side of the Shogun 7.

DMON-Quad checklist

Ensure output is 1080p24 and UMDs are off:

  1. Right arrow once → Control → Enter → HDMI Output Type

  2. Right arrow twice → MV Output Format → should read HD 1080p24 (set it if not)

  3. Back to Control → right arrow three times → UMDs → Enter → set All Off

  4. Return to the signal format screen (1-4: No Signal when nothing is connected)

Media

  1. Tap the SSD icon (top right).

  2. Confirm an SSD of at least 500GB is detected. If you see “No media”, the Master Caddy is not seated properly.

  3. Format… → Format Drive before use (erases all files).

QUAD

On set / in test: feed SDI into each input in turn, match the rotary switch, and confirm picture on the Shogun and any monitor on the pelicase output. In QUAD with only one feed live, you should see that feed in one quadrant and black in the others.

Audio

  • Audio in (3-pin XLR) — meters should move on the Shogun

  • Audio out (3-pin XLR) — clean feed to a speaker / headphones

Quick test kit

  • Test recorder with looping video + audio

  • Test monitor

  • 2 × BNC + barrel

  • 2 × 3-pin XLR

  • Confirm touchscreen, record, and SSD write work before the unit leaves kit room
