HDRI PACKAGE
PURPOSE
HDRI stands for High Dynamic Range Image. The technique of shooting HDRI is commonly used on VFX shoots and consists in taking a series of bracketed images with different exposures to capture the full spectrum of lights on a specific set. These pictures need to cover the environment fully (360 degrees) and very quickly. For this reason the most common setup is made of a wide angle lens (fisheye) and a panorama tripod head, as well as a DSLR camera such as Canon 5D mk IV or any other camera that can take bracketed images. Once stitched together, the HDRI image will be a perfectly exposed picture with valuable information for the VFX artists. They can work out what was the lighting setup on set, how the elements were illuminated and how they can replicate the light on the VFX that will be added on the picture.

Make sure a color chart is with the rig
This package can sometimes include dual Chrome/ grey ball
RIG SET UP & TEST
Open up your tripod and attach at the top the base of the Nodal Ninja R1 - this screws directly on the tripod thread.

Make sure the ring is mounted on lens. Mount lens on camera
Slide the Camera on top of the rotator base. Secure at position 2
Add battery and memory card, turn on the camera and shoot some pictures.
Test if the rotator is working properly by unlocking the secure, twisting the blue pin, and rotate gently the whole camera. It should rotate smoothly and stop every 120’
