Video Package Kit Questions

Questions that the operator asks to determine their kit requirements.

Cameras & monitors

  1. How many cameras are we using? This affects how many monitors are required and what QTAKE licence is needed.

  2. Who needs monitors, and how many per station? Do we need 1 monitor per camera, or can we use split screen so monitors show 2, 3, or 4 camera feeds?

What type of monitors are needed?

Image quality

  • LCD or OLED?

  • SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) or HDR (High Dynamic Range)?

  • What colour accuracy does the viewer require?

Size

  • How much space is there on set?

  • How many people are viewing one monitor?

  • How many camera feeds are you displaying on one screen?

Form factor

  • How will the monitor be rigged? Trolley, stand, or handheld?

Wired or wireless

  • Does the director need a wireless monitor, or could they use an iPad?

  • What delay is okay for the wireless display? iPad has a short delay; wireless handheld has barely any delay.

Power source

  • Mains or battery powered?

  • 230v mains, 12v block battery, or 14.4v V-Lock battery?

Signal, iPads & power

  1. How will the video signal reach the video rig?

  2. How many iPads will be used on set? How many iPads from CineArk are required?
